All the recipes and activities have been trialled with a group of children aged six and under. Although we sometimes made a huge mess and occasionally eggs were dropped and broken, and the floor got wet and slippery-nobody was hurt and at no time was there any danger to anyone.
Activities involving food and cooking can be safe and fun as long as the adult in charge is watchful and lets the children work slowly and carefully with no pressure to hurry or not make messes.
