Take any kitchen tool and put it on a clear bit of the floor. Invite the child/ren to put another kitchen tool next to it… with the following requirement:
The second tool must either be made of the same material as the first OR be used for the same purpose.
So two strainer/sieves made of different materials could be put next to each other or a plastic strainer/sieve could be put next to a plastic cup. Repeat until all the tools are used up.
Remember you can work in any direction- not just in one line.

This picture illustrates how the strainers have been put in a line next to each other showing they serve the same purpose. One of the strainers is made of plastic, so another line is started with things that are made of plastic like the funnel, a plastic knife and a scale on one side and a plastic glass on the other. The next player could put a metal cup next to the plastic glass or any metal untensil next to the scale, which is made not only of plastic but also of metal. The game can be played many different ways with the same untensils.
