Chewy treats the children make themselves
Preheat the oven to 175C/350F Grease a 11 x 7 x 1/2-inch baking pan In large bowl, beat together eggs, sugar, peanut butter and vanilla until smooth. Mix together all the dry ingredients and then add to the liquid mixture. In medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Stir in fruit, oatmeal and nuts. Set aside. Pour into the baking pan. Bake until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean, about 20 to 25 minutes. Cut into 9 pieces. Remove from pan and cool on wire rack.
You will need a conventional oven for this recipe
Ask the children how to cut the bars into 9 equal pieces. Where should the knife go? What about 6 pieces? What about 3 pieces?
Give the child a piece of paper the size of the baking tin- draw lines to show where cuts should be.
